Wifi can’t connect – No internet access

Scanner Application Integration

1. Open the Google Play store and search for “Virtual Office” by Equitable Software and install the application to your device.

2a. For Zebra Scanner Devices:

  1. Find the “zConfigure” folder and click the Datawedge app icon within
  2. Start a new profile by clicking the three dots
  3. Enter “Virtual Office” for the new profile name
  4. Select the new profile
  5. Click on Associated Apps
    • Click the three dots -> New app/activity
    • Scroll down the list and select “com.virtualoffice.application”
    • If debugging select “com.virtualoffice.application.debug”
    • Select the * at the top of the list
    • Click the back button ( < )
  6. Scroll to the Intent output section
    • Enable the output via intent
    • Under Intent Action enter “virtualoffice”
    • Under Intent Delivery select “Broadcast intent”
  7. You have now completed the setup of Datawedge for a Zebra device

2b. For non-Zebra Scanner Devices: (this can vary between devices and OS versions)

  1. 1 Swipe up on home screen and find the Software Barcode Scanner App – open
  2. Tap on the gear icon in the top right
  3. Tap on general settings
  4. Scroll down to Config data broadcast and select it
  5. Input settings in the pop-up:
  6. Data action: virtualoffice
  7. Data extra: com.symbol.datawedge.data_string
  8. Click okay to save and close the pop-up
  9. Scroll back to top of settings and make sure that these items are BOTH OFF = Keyboard input mode (HID) and Widget input mode
  10. If a handle is used then you will need to enable the “Bluetooth Handle” option (then go and pair the device in system settings)

3. Log into your Virtual Office software on your computer

4. Navigate to the Android Scanner Setup page: Administration > Scanner Settings > Android Scanner Setup

5. Find and open the Virtual Office application on the scanner device

6. Tap on the 3 dots menu icon in the top right and select the Settings option from the menu

7. Scan the setup QR code on computer with scanner and then verify that the URL in the configuration input is correct

8. A system user, with scanner permissions, should now be able to scan their user QR code with the scanner to login your Virtual Office system

WIFI setup for Android

Below are instructions for setting up WIFI connections on the Android based scanners.

  1. Press the three dots in the top right corner of the screen. Select “Tools” from the drop down menu.
  2. Select “Admin Login” from the menu. Enter your admin login password supplied to you from Equitable Software (only applicable for devices that we have setup and provided with additional system lockdown software.
  3. Select the “Privileged Settings for Admin”. A screen will appear asking you to confirm. Press the “Enable” button. Enabling this setting will allow you to access the settings for the phone.
  4. Slide your finger from the top of the screen down twice to access the settings icon. in the bottom right corner. Press the settings icon.
  5. Go to the “Network & Internet” setting.
  6. Click on Wi-Fi.
  7. A list of Wi-Fi networks should be showing. Select the name of your Wi-Fi.
  8. Enter your password for you Wi-Fi.
  9. Press “Connect”
  10. You are now connected to Wi-Fi.
  11. Exit out of the settings.
  12. Select the three dots again to access the admin menu.
  13. Select tools.
  14. Select “Admin Logout”

 

 

Wi-Fi can’t connect – No internet access

If you are confronted with this message while using your Android Scanner please follow these steps.

  1. Restart Phone – Press and hold the scanner device’s power button until further options are presented. Tap on the Power Off or Restart menu option.
  2. Reset Wi-Fi – Swipe down from the top of the Android Scanner screen. Tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn it off and then back on again. This is located at the top left in our example image below.
  3. Reset Settings – Swipe down from the top of the Android Scanner screen; this will take two don swipe actions in order to access the full menu. Tap on the small gear in the bottom corner. See example image below. Then scroll down the options and select the “System” menu option (example below) and then select “Reset Options” and then again on the “Reset Wi-Fi & Bluetooth. Confirm by tapping the “Reset Settings” button at the bottom of the screen to complete the process.
